what it is

Bridging the gap.

One of the hardest aspects of taking responsibility for your own physical development is bridging the gap between being told what to do and deciding for yourself what you should do — beyond repeating your favorite exercises. The Free Fall program is designed to help bridge that gap.

This is a “choose your own adventure.” For each individual that goes through it, it will be a unique experience. We think of the basic structure, point out some of the constraints, and suggest what you should seek — the intention, energy system, or work to focus on. You pick the structure, movements, and details.

the prerequisite

Escape Velocity first.

The prerequisite for this series is to complete the Escape Velocity program. This is intended for you to better develop your ability to think for yourself and build upon what was learned there.

how it works

You pick the session.

In each of your training sessions for the next six weeks, you will be given varying parameters with which to select your session for each day. You’ll search The Program app or website and select what you feel best fits the given description — but make changes where you feel you can make the session better for your personal goals.

Don’t simply select a session because its words match the description. Understand the physical sensations we are looking to touch, as well as the narrative we are trying to convey. Explore the possibilities, look to understand the foundation for effective exercises, and be creative.

The structure is a well-balanced general training plan that equally balances different energy systems. Strength, strength-endurance, capacity, endurance, mobility, and recovery prompts cycle through every week to two weeks, with the goal of you personalizing what you need with what you want to train. Take as long as is required to finish. Never be afraid to take a day to rest or do some light work.

Coach behind Man of Steel · 300 · Justice League

No one questions the accomplished man. An accomplished man gets there by questioning everything. Michael Blevins arrived at coaching by way of a single question asked of his own body — how much better can this get? The answer took him through Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, hundreds of bike races, a decade of endurance sport, and eventually into the work of building the bodies behind the screen. He founded Heavy Meta and The Space Program to put the method in other people's hands.
